The Bass Strait Game Fishing Club (BSGFC) in Hastings, Victoria has a rich history. Established to promote game fishing, the club actively contributes to conservation efforts. Through its links with the Game Fishing Associations of Victoria and Australia, as well as the NSW DPI tagging program, the BSGFC tags and releases a majority of its caught fish, particularly mako sharks and Marlin.
